"You are the Salt and Light of the World." Lodonga Core PTC school term opens.

In his homily, the Bishop said to the teachers, principal and administrators gathered. “As Christians we are to illuminate the world, we have to bring knowledge to people, knowledge is a form of light, education is a form of light, faith is a form of light. We are to make others understand what it means to live as children of God. When people meet us , they must see something better about us, because we radiate love and hope to the people.”

“So, yours is a sacred vocation not only to impact practical knowledge but to lead the young hearts and minds. As Catholic School teachers, you are to promote good Christian leadership by engaging in charitable work that perhaps helps society, by engaging local leaders in executing solutions that help the society. You are to be a good organizer, you are to be able to speak about yourself to help others learn and be a prayer leader, Do not shy away. Wherever you go, go with that in your mind.”

The Bishop then laid hands on the candidates and said a prayer outpouring the Holy Spirit. At this moment, the bishop conferred the Holy Spirit upon the candidates. Being the pivotal and sacramental moment of Holy Orders, all priests who were present followed in turn and it was at this moment that the ordained entered the unbroken lineage that leads back to the apostles of Jesus.

The Bishop urged the teachers to claim their past glory. "When Uganda got political independence from the British, most of the political leaders who took over were teachers. At that time, if you were a teacher you could easily be a minister, commissioner, or permanent secretary. Today many things have changed. Only those with full pockets can be where they want. Those days people looked for persons with knowledge , persons with good experience and in those days the teachers were the most informed and the most prepared to lead the country and indeed they did very well. Until things started to change. So we want that glory and that light that teachers had to come up with , and that teachers claim their position."

The Bishop congratulated the school administration of St.John Bosco PTC for keeping the school standards high while thanking Rev .Fr.Anthony , the caplain of Ludonga PTC for inviting him to preside over the mass. During the Eucharistic Celebration a total of 3 students were confirmed into the Christian faith.
